Reach the desk.
We read every email. We respond slowly but we respond. Use the address that matches your question.
editorial@
A one-line synopsis is easier to read than a finished draft. Include three links to past work if you are pitching as a new contributor.
tips@
For sensitive material. We grant anonymity sparingly and we never name a tipster without consent.
press@
High-resolution logo lockups, interview requests for our masthead, syndication.
corrections@
Be specific. Quote the line, link the piece. We log every correction publicly.
Pitch the editorial desk.
This form opens your email client and pre-fills the editorial address. We get to it as soon as we get to it.
Pitch guidelines
- Lead with the angle, not the subject. "Why founder-artists tour less than other indie artists" is a pitch. "I love this record" is not.
- Include three links to past published work. If you have not published, tell us what you would write for us in your first paragraph and we will read on the merits.
- Tell us if the piece is timely — if it needs to publish around a specific record date, we want to know up front.
- Tell us if you have a conflict of interest with the subject. Disclosed conflicts are usually workable. Discovered ones are not.
- One pitch per email.
Response time
We try to respond to pitches within two weeks. We sometimes miss that window. If you have not heard back in three weeks, a polite nudge is welcome. If you have not heard back in six weeks, the answer is probably no — but please nudge once more, because the email may have slipped past.
What we do not commission
We do not commission breaking-news coverage. We do not commission release-day reviews of major-label records. We do not commission product reviews of music gear, software, or DAWs. We do not commission listicles unless we have already discussed the angle.
