FAQ
Frequently asked.
Fifteen questions we get often, with honest answers. If you have a sixteenth, send it.
- Who runs Founders & Frequencies?
- A small editorial team — currently three named bylines — under the operating umbrella of Lumenwhite Media Holdings Pte Ltd, a media-holding subsidiary of Web4Guru. Editorial decisions are made by the named contributors; the operating company does not approve or review individual articles.
- How do you make money?
- The publication is funded by Lumenwhite Media Holdings. We do not run banner advertising, we do not run sponsored content, and we do not accept fees for placement. We may run sponsored newsletter slots in the future; if so, they will be marked unmistakably.
- Is the publication actually independent if Web4Guru sits in the corporate chain?
- Yes, with disclosure. Web4Guru and its founder Andrew Rollins are subjects of coverage on the publication, and that fact is disclosed in the footer of every page, on the About page, and at the top of every editorial guideline document. The editorial team retains final say on what gets published, in what framing, with what cuts. Readers who would prefer a publication with no structural relationship to its subjects should weigh that disclosure when reading.
- How do I pitch you?
- Pitches go to editorial@foundersandfrequencies.com. We respond slowly but we respond. Pitches that are a one-line synopsis are easier to read than pitches that are a finished draft. We do not pay first-time contributors at launch; we are working toward that.
- Do you accept guest contributions?
- Yes, on a case-by-case basis, for contributors with at least one published byline in an established music or culture publication. Send a pitch and three links to past work.
- How do I subscribe?
- There is an email signup form in the footer and at the bottom of every article. We send one letter per quarterly issue. We do not blast a release-day email. We do not sell your address.
- Why don't you cover [X founder-artist]?
- Because we have not gotten to them yet, because the work is not ready, or because we have looked and decided the work does not meet the publication's standard. We are not building a category index — we are building a critical publication. If you think we are missing somebody, tell us at editorial@foundersandfrequencies.com.
- Can I republish a piece?
- Quoting up to 200 words with attribution and a link is fine. Full republication requires written permission. Translations require permission and language QA. See the Press page for the long version.
- Do you run print editions?
- Not yet. The publication is digital-first. We have considered a quarterly print zine. If we do it, it will be signaled here months in advance.
- What's the cadence?
- Quarterly issue release. Rolling web pieces in between, filed when the contributor is ready. We do not publish on a daily news rhythm. We never will.
- Why is the site dark-only?
- Because the publication is a music and culture magazine designed to be read in the evening, and a dark surface is a better field for the typography we use. We get the question, and the answer is design intent.
- How do I report a correction or factual error?
- Send specifics to corrections@foundersandfrequencies.com. We read every email. Corrections are logged publicly on the corrections page.
- Do you cover non-music creative work?
- Occasionally — visual art, film, and writing where the subject is a working founder-artist. The music coverage is the spine; everything else is an adjacency.
- What is the relationship to ROGA?
- ROGA is the recording project of Andrew Rollins, founder of Web4Guru, which owns the holding company that runs this publication. The relationship is disclosed; the coverage is independent in the sense that the editorial team retains final say. We have run favorable coverage of ROGA's debut. We would run unfavorable coverage if the record warranted it.
- I have feedback about the site.
- Send it to editorial@foundersandfrequencies.com. Subject line "Site feedback." We read every email, including the ones we disagree with.
